Business Tech Weekly | Ep 23 | Why is Patch Management important?

A patch is a set of updates designed to fix or improve a computer programme or its supporting data. This update could include new code to improve functionality and / or security. Throughout its lifetime, software will need regular patches installed in order to fix issues – commonly know as ‘bugs’.

Thorough patch management across IT networks is therefore very important in order to ensure all systems are kept up to date – one gap could cause massive consequences. Proper management involved maintaining up to date knowledge of the most recent patches, installing and testing the patches and documentation of all procedures involved.
